It’s a 1991 Lotus Elan. I stopped to look at it, just out of curiosity. I looked it up, and found out that it is the only FWD car that Lotus has made. Doesn’t make a lot of horsepower, but also only weighs in the low 2000’s. Fair price?

Didn’t Hammond drive one in one of the Top Gear challenges?
I mostly remember the windows didn’t seal and he got quite wet.

Nice price. Also interesting:
Kia made these with the GM lotus tooling after they stopped their production.
Get it, and then badge it as a kia.

It’s a bit on the high side by UK prices, but generally those things are ridiculously undervalued. At the time it was widely considered the best-handling FWD car built so far, and I don’t think it’s really fallen behind greatly since. Apparently they’re also properly quick point-to-point despite not being particularly powerful - Lotus chose the FWD design in large part because it was faster than RWD.

CORRECT - the VERY BEST FW driver, at that time, it was claimed. Good fun Summer car, no doubt.

I can’t not see this Australian Japanese American.
Powered by Mazda, built by Ford Australia, imported and sold as a Mercury.
Like the Lotus it’s “wrong wheel drive”
